Paediatric first aid emergencies
This 3hr course is suitable for Nannies, Au Pairs, Babysitters, Parents and anybody who cares for children and needs a basic course. It is also suitable for those who wish to join the Voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR). The course is delivered by Paediatric specialists and includes both theory and practical sessions.
The OCR required syllabus covers such topics as:
- Common First Aid Emergencies including : Burns & Scalds, Bleeding, Shock and Fractures
- Eye & Ear injuries
- Emergency Preparedness
- Choking – Child and Baby
- Resuscitation (CPR) – Child and Baby

At the Hyde Park Medical Group, we offer a 1 day Appointed Person course that can be adapted to suit your needs and is ideal for those who work in an environment that does not require the need for a full 4 day HSE First Aider Course. The course is run over six hours and includes both theory and practical sessions within a relaxed atmosphere that is designed to promote confidence.

This course can be adapted to suit a variety of clients. Groups range from first aiders through to dentists, Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. The training normally takes place over three & Half hours and includes the necessary theory followed by lots of practical “hands-on” practice to build confidence.

- The Theory of Resuscitation

- Basic Life Support

- Airway management - practical use of airway adjuncts and suction
- Oxygen - safety, practical use and contra-indications

Successful completion is measured by means of continuous assessment. Those candidates who have reached the required standard are awarded a certificate that is valid for one year.

Moving and Handling
We recommend that all employers consider training in moving and handling as part of each new employee's induction.
The course covers how to move objects safely, so that manual handling risks are reduced.

Automated External Defibrillation (AED) is well established as one of the important links of the chain of survival providing effective therapy for cardiac arrest.
We offer a comprehensive Automated External Defibrillation (AED) programme based on the necessary theory, backed up with lots of practical sessions. The course is run over 4 hours and is made as informative, yet as enjoyable as possible, thus allowing the students to gain confidence in what is a new and possibly somewhat daunting skill.
